Global Wines, a Dão-based wine holding company, and the company Sabor Português, have established a partnership that foresees the exclusive use of the wines of this producer in the store and restaurant spaces of ‘Loja das Conservas” in Lisbon. “For the partnership between the two companies, which are committed to innovation and the creation of value-creating agreements, the versatility and polyvalence of Global Wines, which has a portfolio capable of meeting any need for harmonization, was decisive”, highlights Global Wines in a statement.
Sommelier Manuel Moreira, one of the most prestigious professionals in this area, was invited to establish the harmonization between the wines and dishes created with some of the preserves available in the store and restaurant, as Bacalhau à Brás (crumbled cod with garlic, oil and eggs) harmonizes perfectly with the ‘Casa de Santar Reserve White’ or as the Spicy Sardine Briosa combines with the’ Sparkling Encontro Rosé’. Smoked Anchovies José Gourmet and ‘Cabriz Reserve White’, or Picas à Bolhão Pato with’ Cabriz Touriga Nacional’ are other harmonizations.
The Wall Street Journal has distinguished the ‘Cabriz Selected Harvest Red’ as one of the best value for money. One of the most prestigious newspapers in the world presented the Global Wines’ wine “as one of the five best value for money wines that deserve to be tasted”, highlights the company.
“Some wines just don’t have the attention they deserve. Especially if we analyze their quality and what we have to pay for them”, says the publication, which still praises the work done in the Dão Demarcated Region, especially in the production of red wines. “Although wines are having increasingly more quality, prices remain very affordable”, stresses the Wall Street Journal.
This is another distinction that reinforces the excellent performance of this reference in the world of the finest wines. Mark Squires – the Portuguese wine taster who is part of Robert Parker’s team, the most influential critic in the world – had already written that “one has to invest in this fresh, elegant, easy and polyvalent red wine”. At the time, ‘Cabriz Selected Harvest Red’ was even considered the best Portuguese red wine in quality/price ratio. Also Wine Spectator had already included this wine in the annual list of the top 100.
Alfrocheiro, Tinta-Roriz and Touriga Nacional are the varieties that make up the ‘Cabriz Selected Harvest Red’, which has an intense ruby color, fruity, with a predominance of fresh red fruits, woodland fruits jam, spices and toasty notes. In the mouth it’s fruity, soft, elegant and harmonious, making it an ideal accompaniment to oven-baked fish, roasted white meats, stewed or roasted red meats and soft cheeses.
