Bulas, a brand of Port and Douro wines produced in the Demarcated Region of Cima Corgo, has had several of its wines awarded abroad.
The International Wine Challenge 2020 competition, in London, England, has distinguished the Port and Douro wines from this company located in the Douro river valley. The ‘Bulas Porto Vintage 2017’ received the Gold medal and the trophy for the best Port wine.
“This exceptional Vintage is a very complex wine with the character of its terroir, a lot of red fruit and great robustness which connects it to the land, its people and Douro tradition. This Vintage has a great ageing potential”, as the company describes it.
The remaining four gold medals received were distributed to different categories of Port and Douro wines. The ‘Bulas Porto Colheita 1997’, ‘Bulas Porto LBV 2015’ and ‘Bulas Porto White 10 years’ dry were awarded.
In the category of Douro wines, the Gold medal was awarded to ‘Bulas Reserva 2016’ red wine with the signature of winemakers Joana Duarte and Rosário Carvalhais. It is “a complex fruity wine with a very long finish”, highlights the company, which also received a silver medal for ‘Bulas Reserva 2017’ white wine, “a very fresh wine with tones of tropical fruit, vibrant and elegant”.

Bulas has been achieving international notoriety for several years with great distinctions in international competitions, thus demonstrating the consistency of the quality achieved.
