The results of the international contest ‘Olive Japan 2019’ were released, which recognized and honored the best olive oils in the world. The ‘Extra Virgin Olive Oil’ and ‘Azeite Moura DOP’ (Moura Olive Oil PDO) from the Cooperativa Agrícola de Moura e Barrancos (Agricultural Cooperative of Moura and Barrancos CAMB) were again awarded, this time with silver medals.
Henrique Herculano, CAMB’s Marketing Director, states that “this award is reinforcing once again the quality of Portuguese olive oils and, in particular, the olive oil produced by the Cooperativa Agrícola de Moura e Barrancos, allowing to display what is done best in Portugal and, in particular, in the Alentejo. ”
CAMB’s Moura ‘Olive Oil PDO’ is exclusively obtained from the Cordovil, Galega and Verdeal varieties, only with olives harvested directly from healthy trees and in full ripeness. The transport of the olives to the mill is carried out as soon as possible after harvest, so as not to compress the olive and not to cause mechanical damage.
The Moura Olive Oil PDO was awarded in 2018 with a gold medal in the Virgin Olive Oil Contest of the National Olive-Growing Fair 2018 and with two gold stars in the ‘Superior Taste Award’ category of iTQi (International Taste & Quality Institute).
The ‘Extra Virgin Olive Oil CAMB’ is a high-quality product that in 2016 received a gold medal in Los Angeles, two gold stars at ITQI Brussels and an honorable mention in Beijing, having also been awarded a gold medal, in the mature fruity category, in the Mario Solinas competition (the main international tender in the field of extra virgin olive oils, organized by the International Olive Oil Council).
