With the death of Ferreira de Oliveira (1948-2019), Portugal “loses one of its brightest and most enlightened minds,” said the Portuguese finance minister. Mário Centeno “deeply lamented the disappearance of Professor Ferreira de Oliveira”.
Manuel Ferreira de Oliveira left a “valuable legacy”, , said the Super Bock Group in a statement mourning the death of the one who was the major responsible for the company’s internationalization process. “The passion with which he indulged himself in the sector was also manifested by his valuable contribution as chairman of the Portuguese brewers’ director, between 2002 and 2004, and was also the main responsible for the creation of the Confraria da Cerveja, which has existed since 2003 and in which he served as Grand Master. ”
Graduated in Electrical Engineering from FEUP (1971), Ferreira de Oliveira completed his training at the University of Manchester, where he obtained the Master of Science in Energy (1974) and PhD (1976). A year later, he completed his Aggregation at University of Porto.
Former Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Manuel Ferreira de Oliveira was currently a member of the Board of Trustees of this university, since 2015.
From 1995 to 2000 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Board of the Petrogal Group and from 2000 to 2006 he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Chairman of Unicer – Bebidas de Portugal, currently Super Bock Group.
From 2006 to 2015 he held positions at Grupo Galp Energia as Executive Director and COO (2006) and later as Executive Chairman (CEO) and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors (from 2007 to 2015).
