STEF, the European specialist shipping company for cold logistics, has now a new platform in Vila Real, Trás-os-Montes, with the main objective of strengthening the quality of services provided to customers in the region, with the distribution of food products, based in the use of optimized operating models.
Located in the industrial zone of Constantim, the new platform is the eighth unit dedicated to the operations of the company in Portugal and contributes to the acceleration of logistic flows to and from this important national production zone. In Vila Real, food products are collected and then distributed nationally or shipped to European markets.
The international group reported the consolidated turnover figures for the second quarter of 2018, which show an increase of 8.4% (6.8% in the comparable perimeter). The Iberian Peninsula also consolidated its growth with 6.9% in the quarter. Portugal continues to develop its activity in the catering sector due to a strong growth in food consumption. Italy expands its activity of transport and logistics to the frozen activity, complementing the activities for fresh and thermosensitive products. The growth in turnover was more 20.5%, of which 5.8% at constant perimeter. Maritime activity grew by 3.1%.
