Sérgio Faias is the new chairman of the Management Board of Docapesca – Portos e Lotas, SA. In fact, he has been a member of the board since 2016. Carlos Figueiredo remains as a member and Isabel Ferreira also joins the board of directors. These changes are the result of the departure of former president Teresa Coelho, who recently took office as Secretary of State for Fisheries.
PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Master in Mechanical Engineering, by the Instituto Superior Técnico, at the Technical University of Lisbon, Sérgio Faias is, since 2001, professor at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL), having integrated several research and development centers, most recently the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Research and Development.
Between 2015 and 2016, he took on the role of coordinator of the Service Quality Task Force of the Council of European Energy Regulators, as a representative of the Energy Services Regulatory Authority, where he performed the functions of specialist in the Infrastructure and Network Department and coordinated the Technical Service Quality team.
Docapesca is a government owned company, under the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Sea. Its mission is to provide, on the Portuguese mainland, the public service of the first sale of fish in auction and related activities, the administration of fishing ports and recreational marinas, acting as port authority, in the areas under its jurisdiction.
We are territorially dispersed throughout mainland Portugal, headquartered in Lisbon. We are located in six areas of Fish Auctions and Fishing Ports, namely: North, Matosinhos, Center North, Center, Center South and Algarve. In general, we promote the sale of fresh and frozen fish, hygienic control, management of the second sale market in Matosinhos and the sale of ice, as well as the property management of the areas under our jurisdiction.
