SEL’s – Salsicharia Estremocense – Varanegra and Paio de Lombo (pork loin ham) made with pork from Alentejo was awarded the Gold medal in the international competition of Singapore.
“Varanegra ham of pork from Alentejo was awarded a gold medal at the ‘Singapore Taste Award’ 2019”, the company said.
Varanegra Ham already has four gold medals, two of them being international, since the beginning of its production in 2016.
This initiative is promoted by economic newspaper ‘Singapore Newspaper’ held in blind trial, aimed to lead the production of quality products around the world, being its main goal to help high-quality products to reach Asian entrepreneurs.
These awards are sent by the competition organization to importers, distributors, luxury hotels and restaurants, tour companies, duty free shops, convenient stores, retail stores and other tourism offers from Singapore and across Asia.
SEL already exports to Asia but intents to evolve much more; it is preparing the production capacity to meet this gigantic market’s needs.
Founded in 1980 in Estremoz, it is a family-owned business with more than 35 years of history; it is now a reference in the national agri-food sector and an increasingly relevant agent in the international scene. In 2012, SEL integrated the ranking of the 40 most competitive and dynamic companies in the food sector. A recent measure of the company was applied to a proposal to contribute to salt reduction in its product portfolio. Thus, the company adapted a solution of its products between 20% and 30% between 2015 and 2017, with the aim of further reducing salt.
