The status of Leading SME 2019, awarded by IAPMEI as a distinction of the merit of companies for the success of their business strategy and the contribution made to the growth of the national economy, was attributed to Quinta da Pacheca.
The emblematic Douro company has made significant investments in the areas of viticulture and wine tourism, which has resulted in considerable increases in revenue and income, according to a press release.
In recent years, Quinta da Pacheca’s wine portfolio has been significantly strengthened “with new references, conquering new markets and consumers, and the wine tourism complex is being reinforced with a new wing of The Wine House Hotel, which will have the capacity to more 24 rooms. Wine barrels were another successful investment, making Quinta da Pacheca known worldwide and one of the main wine tourism players in the Douro”, as stated in the press release.
The status of Leading SME, “in addition to attesting the good business performance of a company, gives it notoriety and creates favorable financing conditions in order to develop growth strategies and increase its competitiveness”, explains the same statement.
According to Maria do Céu Gonçalves, co-owner of Quinta da Pacheca, “it is another distinction that amplifies our visibility and differentiates us in relation to the market”. The businesswoman also recalls that “since we acquired the company in 2012, we have always presented very positive balance sheets and we are constantly investing in improving our infrastructure and our human resources”.
The origins of Quinta da Pacheca date back to the middle of the 18th century. It is one of the largest wine producers in the Douro region and has been distinguished with several awards as a result of the investment and work of Paulo Pereira and Maria do Céu Gonçalves, two Portuguese entrepreneurs based in France who in 2012 decided to recreate this project of excellence and with it leverage the development of the Douro region.
