The wine ‘Quinta da Cidadoura Reserva 2016’ produced by Santos & Santos – Companhia de Vinhos was distinguished with one gold medal and two silver medals in three of the main international competitions of the specialty – ‘Concours Mondial de Bruxelles’,’ Decanter World Wine Awards’ and ‘International Wine & Spirit Competition’.
“The production of excellent wines is an increasingly evident reality in the wine region of Lisbon. The wines produced here have acquired a notorious national and international recognition in recent years”, says the company in a statement.
‘Quinta da Cidadoura Selection from the Enologist Reserve 2016’ is a regional Lisbon wine that Santos & Santos produces on its farm in the municipality of Torres Vedras which gives its name to the wine. The gold medal was awarded at the ‘Concours Mondial de Bruxelles’ and the silver medals distinguished the wine in the other two international competitions.
The passion of two brothers from a miller family for the production of wines in one of the most important wine regions in Portugal led to the foundation of the company Santos & Santos in 1977. The brand was born out of a long family tradition since they own a mill located in Ribeira de Pedrulhos which is still part of the exterior decor of the company’s facilities remaining as its ex libris.
Santos & Santos vineyards are located 15 kilometers from the sea in the municipality of Torres Vedras, 40 kilometers west of Lisbon in an area of 250 hectares.
The company’s new production and logistics unit was inaugurated in 2014 with a covered area of 6000m2. The exports currently represent 25% of Santos & Santos’ turnover with its wines present in about 20 countries.
