Queijos Santiago celebrated last December its 100 existence. The history of this centenary company began in Castelo Branco in the year 1918 when the Santiago couple dedicated themselves to create 300 sheep that produced about 50 liters of milk per day.
A hundred years later, Queijos Santiago has more than 70 products in the market “being proud of being an undoubted market leader in the segment of fresh cheeses and also a reference in the segment of cured cheeses, namely with regional products”, as refers the presentation of the company on its website on the internet. With five production units in Portugal – Montemuro, Palmela, Monforte, Torres Vedras, Abrantes and a Logistics Center in the Venda do Pinheiro, Queijos Santiago has the responsibility for the collection, production, packaging and distribution of all its products.
The company has more than 250 employees and is currently present in more than 20 countries. In 2017 has made 45 million euros in sales.
“The history of Queijos Santiago is confused with the history of our family,” says João Santiago, CEO of the company. “Over the past 100 years, the business that has its roots in the family tree grew up and became a benchmark in the industry. None of this would have been possible without the audacity of the various generations of the family and without the efforts of our collaborators. “
