The Douro is to be congratulated on the ‘Papa Figos Branco 2016’ from Casa Ferreirinha, included in the 2018 Wine Spectator’s TOP 100, the annual selection of the best wines for the North American magazine of world reference, informs Sogrape, owner of Casa Ferreirinha.
‘Papa Figos Branco 2016’ is the only Portuguese still wine to be featured in the 2018 Wine Spectator’s TOP 100, a selection based on all the wines tasted throughout the year by the magazine’s editors.
Of these, 100 references are selected according to criteria such as quality, value, availability and enthusiasm, as stated by the company in a press release.
In July of this year, the 2016 harvest of Papa Figos Branco had already been highlighted in this prominent magazine, for the 90 points won and for the selection as ‘Smart Buy’.
The Wine Spectator’s journalist and critic of Portuguese wines, Gillian Sciaretta, highlighted the aromatic character of this white wine from Casa Ferreirinha, with its notes of spices and flavors of mango and peach puree. For Gillian, this structured white ends with spices and good minerality, in a long and creamy finish. The criticism also valued its good quality/price ratio.
Launched in 2016 with great success, “Papa Figos Branco is the latest wine to integrate the noble range of Casa Ferreirinha, made up of references such as Vinha Grande, Quinta da Leda or Barca Velha.
