Monte da Ravasqueira launched the ‘Great Reserve Brut 2013’. The sparkling wine was produced by the classic method manually harvested from alfrocheiro red grapes. It carried out a second bottle fermentation, where it staged for 36 months on the lees, with battonage carried out every two months. Complex and very lively acidity, reveals very fine bubble, and notes of candied fruit and biscuit in the test.
Like the 2012 harvest, which garnered a rating of 91 points by the North American critic Robert Parker and sold out in just over three months, the ‘Brut Nature Large Sparkling Ravasqueira Brut Nature 2013’ is also “the result of a dedication exercise, passion and art, “says the company’s institutional source.
The production gave rise to 3,260 bottles and this wine honors the tapestry of Arraiolos, present through the graphic elements in each bottle and in the box that carries them.
Monte da Ravasqueira was acquired in 1943 by D. Manuel de Mello as a family home and retreat outside the city. In 2001, and four years after the first vines were planted, the family gathered what would be the first wine. Bottled and labeled ‘MR’, it would never reach the market, being now considered a relic of great symbolism within the family and employees of Ravasqueira. The first wine from Monte da Ravasqueira reached the mark in 2002 and it was a red wine marketed until the middle of 2017.
In 2016 began a process of creating unique brands of quality wines and differentiated concepts for the large distribution. This was the case of the brands ‘Guarda Rios’, ‘Coutada Velha’ and ‘Landau’.
The following year was marked by an adjustment in brand identity and a process of commercial repositioning. The wines started to integrate two large ranges – ‘Monte da Ravasqueira’ and ‘Ravasqueira’ – and new wines were launched, such as the ‘Reserva da Família’ and the Classic, Superior and Selection of the Year segments.
