Milaneza has been innovating and now launches ‘Corações Pró-Vita’ with barley beta-glucan, a soluble, natural fiber that plays a major role in reducing and maintaining adequate blood cholesterol values. An integral part of the ‘Milaneza Natura’ range, ‘Corações Pró-Vita’ have 1g beta-glucan from barley per every 80g portion.
For each sold package, Milaneza will help the Portuguese Foundation of Cardiology with € 0.30, in an action that will take place during the year 2019. Milaneza will also associate itself with ‘May, Month of the Heart’ – a set of activities that the Portuguese Federation of Cardiology develops throughout the month, with the aim of alerting the population to the problem of cardiovascular diseases.
Eva Neves de Carvalho is a nutritionist at Milaneza and explains that “beta-glucan is a type of soluble dietary fiber naturally found in cereals such as oats and barley.” “This type of fiber acts to reduce both the absorption of cholesterol and the absorption of bile acids, the raw material responsible for the production of blood cholesterol. One of the risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases is the presence of high levels of cholesterol in the blood, “she points out.
