The training of the Academy of Compal Fruit Center has begun, after the period of applications and selection of the 12 selected trainees. In the end, three accommodation grants will be given, totaling 60 thousand euros. The training runs between April and July, during more than 80 hours dedicated to theoretical sessions and visits to model farms, from north to south of Portugal. In the classroom sessions, the trainees endow their knowledge in modules such as fruit-growing, farm management, sustainability, marketing and associativism.
“By combining theoretical and practical training, trainees are expected to have greater contact with reality and with new business models, also meeting highly specialized experts”, Compal stated in a press release, adding that by participating in the Academy, all the trainees integrate a networking platform “that grows from year to year, with more and more collaborations and partnerships with important players of the national agricultural sector.”
In the last six years, Compal Fruit Center Academy has trained 60 fruit entrepreneurs for a total of 400 training hours in 16 regions. Since its inception, 300,000 euros have already been granted for accommodation purposes. The objective is to keep on contributing with the training of the future fruit growers, always valuing the national fruit.
