It is from Herdade do Freixo that come the five new whites produced in Alentejo: the Freixo monocastas – ‘Chardonnay’, ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ and ‘Alvarinho’ -, ‘Freixo Terroir’ and ‘Freixo Reserva’.
‘Freixo Chardonnay 2018’ seduces by the notes of citrus fruits, the aromatic purity of the orange blossom and a remarkable mineral flavour. “It is undoubtedly a passionate and different wine than we would expect for a white from Alentejo,” says Carolina Tomé, commercial and marketing director. The ‘Freixo Sauvignon Blanc 2018’ features hints of lime, green apple and is ideal with fish dishes, grilled food, salads, seafood. The ‘Freixo Alvarinho 2018’ is even more fresh and vibrant, has notes of fresh and fragrant peach and stands out for the volume in the mouth, the miner notes and persistence at the end tasting.
In another range, the ‘Freixo Terroir white 2018’ surprises by its elegance and balance. Is engaging in the mouth and leaves a long and seductive finish. Finally, Herdade do Freixo’s state-of-the-art white wines, the ‘Freixo Reserva Branco 2017’ “still reveals some youth but also the promise of continuing to evolve for a longer time, in a path of continuous improvement”, says the company. The company also states that “it offers aroma of white fruits and vegetables, light smoked and some toasted bread. In the mouth is complex and engaging, rich, fresh and persistent in the end.” “We want this white wine to be our proposal for continuity and confidence,” says Carolina Tomé.
Recently the Regional Tourism Entity (ERT) distinguished Herdade do Freixo with the ‘Best Wine Tourism’ award of the Alentejo and already in 2018 had been distinguished with the ‘Building of the Year’ award, granted by the Arch Daily website of New York.
Herdade do Freixo is located in Redondo, between Serra D’Ossa and Évora.
