Frutalmente plans to produce 4500 tons of fruit in 2018, which means an increase of more than 50% compared to the previous year.
The company currently has nearly 300 hectares in table grape production, a 30% increase over 2017.
Recognized as a Producer Organization, Frutalmente is the only Organization of Table Grape Growers in Portugal, and has 19 producing shareholders located in the regions of Ribatejo, Oeste and Alentejo.
“In addition to the expected growth of 30% in the production of table grapes, a product that was the basis of Frutalmente, the production of lump fruits and figs also increased from 500 to close to 1500 tons,” explains the producer in a statement from organization.
Frutalmente has been diversifying the cultures and already has nine types of fruit in the market. In addition to table grapes, which accounts for 70% of production, the company also produces apricot, plum, peach, apple, pomegranate, rocha pear, clove, fig and, more recently, goji berry.
“In the plans for the future lies a greater diversification of products. Soon you will also have strawberries produced in hydroponics, “he adds.
The vast majority of the production is sold in the large distribution, but Frutalmente also wants to reinforce its presence in the traditional trade and to promote its internationalization.
