Docapesca launched the ‘Lota em Casa’ website (www.lotaemcasa.pt), which allows the final consumer to identify the places where fresh fish from Portuguese auctions in each region is sold, including municipal markets, fishmongers, hypermarkets and short circuits for the sale of fish (baskets).
“Through the GPS location, the new website presents all the points of sale adhering to the CCL – Proof of Purchase in Auction near our homes, also providing a feature that allows the user to increase the search radius up to 100 km”, Docapesca explains in a press release.
The guarantee of origin is given through the CCL label, which indicates to the consumer that he is buying fish caught by national vessels on the Portuguese coast, and which adopts the traceability rules required by law, respecting the seasonality of each species and the established fishing quotas, preserving fish stocks.
‘Lota em Casa’ also promotes the fish baskets existing in Portugal – Cabaz do Peixe (www.cabazdopeixe.pt) and Cabaz Frescomar (www.aapf.pt) , to which the consumer can join to buy fresh fish of high-quality and excellent quality/price ratio directly from local fishermen’s associations, valuing small artisanal fishing. The baskets are composed of fish ready to cook (scaled and gutted), varied, fresh and seasonal. The website also presents fish recipes and information on the main species existing on the Portuguese coast, thus creating content that will be regularly updated and increased.
This Docapesca project is part of the current Simplex 2020/2021 program.
Docapesca is under the supervision of the Ministry of the Sea, and is in charge, on the continent, of the first sale of fish and support to the fishing sector and respective ports, with 22 auctions and 37 points of sale.
