“Because 2020 was a challenging year, but our exports grew by 18%”, the winery of Cantanhede said in a statement published on its Facebook page .
In a statement, the company announced that the value of exports reached 2.6 million euros, corresponding to a volume of 1.05 million liters. The most representative markets were Brazil, followed by Russia, USA, France and England. In total, exports to these markets grew by 22%.
“In a particularly challenging year, with the main international fairs in the sector being canceled and the monitoring of on-site markets being affected, the growth recorded was due essentially to the recognized quality of its wines, as well as the strength of the existing commercial relationships and the high level of confidence of its international partners, in an environment of uncertainty in which that trust has become even more relevant ”, said the company, in the same statement.
On the other hand, the same source says that Adega de Cantanhede takes the 13th place among Portuguese exporters to Brazil, “assuming an even more relevant position in terms of Portuguese sparkling wine exports to Brazil, where it takes the 2nd position , representing 13% of Portuguese sparkling wines exported to that market ”.
In addition, the reinforcement of the company’s international recognition with seven of the sparkling wines from Adega de Cantanhede having been recognized among the 50 best in the world by Wine Pleasures, also contributed to this growth. “In 2020, the 126 distinctions with which our wines were awarded, functioned as an important tool for promotion and quality assurance, in a year in which direct contact was forbidden, representing not only an important part of our value proposition to our international partners, but also an unequivocal support for the correct positioning of our wines, which resulted in an increase in the average sale price in 2020 of around 10%, compared to 2019”, the company concludes.
