The VigentGroup company – founded in 2003 – now extends its offer to refrigerated products and strengthens its Iberian position by acquiring La Balinesa, a Spanish family business located in La Antigua, León and dedicated to refrigerated products.
In a statement, Brasmar said that with this purchase “on one hand, the goal is to strengthen its national leadership by entering into a new business segment and diversifying its already vast available offer, while also strengthening its position in the Iberian Peninsula, now reaching farther in this market”. David Casañ Gil was the manager chosen by Brasmar to take the lead in the refrigerated business in Spain, taking care of the whole operations and supply chain departments.
Founded by Jesus Llamas in 1991, La Balinesa is currently one of the leading companies in the manufacture of smoked products in Spain. It stands out for the premium smoked products, like salmon or cod, being dedicated also to the production and commercialization of other refrigerated products.
Another factor that led Brasmar to acquire La Balinesa is the fact that, despite being far from the big industrial centers, it is located near Benavente “which allows the company to serve its customers in less than 24 hours to any point in the Peninsula and in 72 hours for the rest of Europe” he said.
In Portugal, La Balinesa products are already present in some of the major distribution companies.
