Brasmar, a company dedicated to frozen seafood, has acquired Foncasal, a Spanish company specializing in ready-to-eat refrigerated cooked octopus and other cephalopods. “With this acquisition, Brasmar strengthens its offer in the Iberian market and increased its cephalopod portfolio”, it stated in a press release.
Founded in the 90s, the result of the convergence of two teams of professionals in the canning industry, Foncasal offers high-quality products with great recognition in the market. Foncasal has a strong international presence with sales over 18 million euros, which 50% comes from outside Spain, mainly from the Mediterranean and North America.
Brasmar sells over 200 types of frozen seafood, and has a strategic focus on the specialization of octopus and other cephalopods. This product has been distinguished in Portugal for three consecutive years, as the ‘Flavor of the Year’.
In 2018, Brasmar’s turnover reached 195 million euros, and the company expects it to approach 300 million euros in 2019. The company assumes internationalization as one of the strategic pillars for its growth. This new acquisition is integrated in the refrigerated products business.
Meanwhile, the company recently launched an online store, being the first frozen seafood company to have an e-commerce platform. As a means of payment, Brasmar’s store has 4 options: ATM , MB Way, credit card and PayPal. At the same time, it launched 3 new ranges: ‘Naturally + Tasty’, ‘Naturally + Appetizing’ and ‘Naturally + Delicious’.
