Both wines ‘Deu la Deu Reserve 2017’ and ‘Deu La Deu Terraces 2016’, produced by Adega de Monção, won the Albariño de Oro Medal at the VIII edition of the International Contest Albariños Al Mundo Zurich 2019.
In a statement, Adega Cooperativa de Monção said it was the largest international showcase of Alvarinho, organized by Unión Española de Catadores, and whose main objective is to make known to the main world wine markets the excellence of production of the regions where this variety assumes the protagonism”.
The chairman of Adega de Monção, Armando Fontainhas, quoted in that statement, said that it represents “another milestone in the history of an institution that leaves a huge legacy in the wine sector.” The wines in competition, originating in Spain and Portugal, are evaluated by a jury of sommeliers, journalists, prescribers and purchasing officers.
Deu la Deu Reserva 2017 was selected from Alvarinho grapes from ancient vineyards. It can be consumed as an aperitif or accompanied with fish and seafood dishes, says Adega de Monção in the statment. It should be consumed at a temperature of 12ºC, kept in a cool place, at a constant temperature, protected from light, without trepidation, without strong odors and stored in a horizontal position.
‘Deu La Deu Terraces 2016’ also comes from Alvarinho grapes and can be consumed as an aperitif and accompanied with seafood, fish and white meat dishes.
